The Corunna Fourth of July Celebration Commission will be holding a poker tournament by mid-January of next year. The tournament champion will receive $500 and a trophy from Corunna.
The Corunna Fourth of July Celebration Commission is set to hold on January 13, 2007 a No-Limit Texas Hold ‘’Em Poker Tournament in the Corunna Community Center at McCurdy Park.
Registration for the poker tournament will begin at 10:30 in the morning, to be followed by reviewing of the rules by 11:30, and the tournament proper will start by noon.
The last poker player remaining will be named the champion, or the one with the most number of chips should more than one player remain by 10:00 in the evening.
First placer will receive $500 and a trophy from Corunna. The total prize pool for the poker tournament will depend on the number of entrants.
The poker tournament is sponsored by the Friends of the Corunna Historical Village. Buy-in for the poker event is at $45 if made by January 2, 2007, and $50 afterwards.
Organizers are looking to have 70 poker players, 10 tables, and a limit of 98 players.
Corunna is also calling on volunteers to act as dealers. Volunteers will undergo a dealer training session on Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of Corunna Community Center.
Proceeds from the poker tournament will benefit the Corunna Fourth of July Celebration.
50/50 raffle tickets are also available for purchase. The raffle will take place when there are only 14 players remaining, forming two final tables. Applications for the event will begin Nov. 20.
